The Different Baccarat Variations
Baccarat has been to different lands and like any other game that has traveled across continents it surely has gone through different changes wherever it went. As we can expect, there are different variations of the game of baccarat. Though the premise of the game still remains intact, there have been some tweaks here and there as we look at the different baccarat variations.
The first variation of this game we'll look at is mini baccarat. Mini baccarat is a popular game in the United States. This baccarat variation is really almost the same as the original game. The table used in mini baccarat is about the size of a blackjack table. Another difference is that there is only one casino employee managing the mini baccarat table. Another difference of this variation from the original is the size stakes, which mini baccarat brings down to amounts attainable by the common folk.
Chemin de fer, our second baccarat variation, is French, which actually means a railroad. This variation needs just a couple of players to get a game going. A good twist to this game is that players get become the banker. The player who assumes the role of banker will deal a couple of hands in each round and have the rest of the players vie for the title of player. Another difference of chemin de fer is the fact that the third card rule is different for this variation.
European baccarat is the game's variation that is popular in Europe, as its name suggests. In this variation, the banker finances the bets. If one or two players have reached the game cap then the banker in European baccarat has the right to stop taking anymore bets. If a player wants to bet the full betting cap or limit for the banker they can do so by saying "banco". Take note that the caps for these types of games are smaller than versions of baccarat that are funded by the casino.
Baccarat en banque is another variation of the game that can be found in European casinos. In this variation of the game of baccarat the casino funds the action. One unique difference in this baccarat variation is that only one player is required to get the game going.
Baccarat en banque is quite unique from the rest of the variations of baccarat. In this variation the dealer deals out three hands (i.e. a banker hand and a couple of player hands). The players bet on one of the player hands but are not allowed to wager on the banker. There are no drawing rules for this game, but the draw of the third card is dealer-dependent.
Punto banco is a variation that is similar to American baccarat. There is also a mini punto banco game.
Baccarat underwent some changes as the game proceeded from one territory to another. There have been tweaks on some of the rules but the theme of the game remained the same.
